WHAT'S DIFFERENT ABOUT HAUS MYLKS?
Most commercial plant-based milks (the boxed stuff you find in grocery stores) are made with thickeners, preservatives, gumming agents that disrupt our gut health, and use only 2% of nuts. Haus Mylk uses over 10X the amount of conventional brands and we prioritize fresh, plant-based mylks made with real, whole food ingredients. Speaking of fresh, we also don’t use high pressure processing (HPP) to extend the shelf life of our mylks.
ARE HAUS MYLKS VEGAN?
Haus Mylks are 100% plant-based and free of dairy, gluten, soy, and completely GMO free.
ARE YOUR PRODUCTS CERTIFIED VEGAN, GLUTEN-FREE, AND NUT-FREE?
Although our products are considered vegan and gluten-free, we are not certified. We work in a shared kitchen space and produce all of our items in a facility that also uses dairy, eggs, wheat, and tree nuts.
WHY ARE MYLKS "ACTIVATED"?
Nuts have a protective enzyme inhibitor including phytic acid that prevents our bodies from proper digestion and absorption. Eating large amounts of raw, unsprouted nuts can often leave us feeling heavy, bloated and puts a strain on our digestive tracts. To reverse these effects and gain the full benefit of the nut’s nutritional properties, we activate our nuts in sea salt water for up to 12 hours. The process of “activating” nuts not only results in a better tasting mylk, but also neutralizes enzyme inhibitors allowing for better digestion and nutrient absorption.
ARE YOUR MYLKS PASTEURIZED?
Our mylks are made fresh to order and are not treated with high pressure processing (HPP) or heated. Please note that consuming unpasteurized products may contain harmful bacteria that can cause serious illness in children, the elderly, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and persons with disease, illness or weakened immune systems. Check with your doctor if unpasteurized nut milk is right for you.
HOW LONG DO MYLKS STAY GOOD FOR?
This largely depends on how cold you keep your mylks in the fridge. Left chilled with minimal exposure to heat and light, mylks can last from 5-6 days. Generally, we recommend keeping your mylks for 3-5 days from the day they're made. Check the label on your bottle to see the expiration date.
HOW DO I MAXIMIZE FRESHNESS?
Place your mylks at the back of your fridge, where it's coldest and least affected by temperature changes, and away from light. Don't place your mylks in the refrigerator door (it's the warmest part of the fridge).
CAN I FREEZE THE MYLKS?
Yes! Place your mylks inside a plastic or glass bottle and thaw it overnight in the fridge when you're ready to use. We recommend blending your defrosted mylk inside a blender for a few seconds, and your mylk will taste good as new.
MY MYLK SEPARATES...IS THIS NORMAL?
Yes! We don't use any thickeners, emulsifiers, or binding agents like many commercial plant-based milks so you know that separation equals natural. Just shake well, and your mylk will be back to normal.
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
All of our 32 oz. growlers can be refilled. You can bring back your clean growler for refilling at a refill price. Per the health department, we can't reuse growlers, or refill unwashed growlers.
WHERE CAN I GET HAUS MYLK?
As we ramp up operations, we've currently paused online ordering. However you can sample and shop mylks at our Georgetown location inside BOPBOX Mondays through Saturdays from 11am to 4pm.
